Making A Leather Leaf Hair Pin

Beginning Stages

I drew out my leaf pattern using an actual leaf on the back of the leather and then used an Exacto knife to cut it out.

Coloring the Leather

I used a red stain and then used an antique stain to go around the edges. Then I decided to paint all of it with the antique stain on top of the red to make it a deep burgundy color.

Finishing

I also made the stick pin for it with Walnut Wood. I had to file it and sand it down, then we polished it. While making it, it made me think of a Harry Potter wand or drum stick!
